Cameras on, microphones off. If your child is using headphones, have them on. If they are feeling shy and don’t want to turn their camera on, let me know in the chat.

Week of Oct. 5th - Oct. 9th
Language Arts: Students will continue to participate in read-aloud discussions about books and be introduced to new reading comprehension strategies. We will be reading books that help students develop a sense of belonging. We will not be requiring students to login to Florida Virtual (FLVS) during the language arts meetings next week.
Math: We will continue to practice addition in both grades. Because navigating FLVS while on Zoom was difficult for some students, we will be sharing my whiteboard and Zoom screen with them. They will not have to access FLVS during class unless they want to. I’ve listed the FLVS lesson they can finish asynchronously during the week.
First graders will focus on sums up to 10. They will practice adding to find sums, as well as finding missing addends. They will complete FLVS lesson 1.02, “Unknown and Alone.”
Second graders will study doubles and doubles plus one facts. They will complete FLVS lesson 1.02, “Double the Fun.”
If your child seems like they need extra support, teachers will contact you to set up a time for your child and I to meet one-on-one. If we haven’t contacted you but you feel your child needs this, please contact us. We will address issues while keeping these times casual and fun.
