Welcome to the Forest Grove Community School
The Forest Grove Community School is a free public charter school that engages students in scholarship, stewardship and citizenship with the goal of educating for sustainability. We provide a caring, smaller school environment that challenges students to reach their highest potential through learning rooted in the local community. FGCS currently enrolls students in 1st through 8th grades. We operate under a charter contract with the Forest Grove School District and are governed by an independent board of directors. We are an Oregon non-profit corporation and a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization. We serve students and families in and around Forest Grove, Oregon. We are located at 1914 Pacific Ave. in downtown Forest Grove, Oregon. You may contact us at 503-359-4600 or email@example.com.
Goal-Setting Conferences Oct. 23 & Oct. 24
Goal-setting conferences will take place Thursday, October 23 and Friday, October 24 at FGCS. These are no-school days but all students are expected to participate in a 30-minute conference with their teachers and parents. Please call the school office at 503-359-4600 to schedule a time. Conference times are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 8-11 a.m. and 12-2 p.m. Friday. Be sure to stop by the Art Room before or after your conference. There will be stations around the room for students to teach their parents about the techniques they've been learning and projects they've been working on so far this year.
Background Checks Now Required for All FGCS Volunteers
Under a new school district policy, criminal background checks will be required for all volunteers starting with the 2014-15 school year. This includes, but is not limited to, classroom volunteers and Out & About chaperones.
We encourage all current and prospective volunteers to go to the link below as soon as possible to fill out the criminal background verification form online. There is no cost to the volunteer, and all information provided will remain confidential. Starting , individuals will not be allowed to volunteer until their background check has been approved. The conviction of a crime will not automatically disqualify a person from volunteering in a school. Each situation will be considered individually.
We appreciate all of our dedicated volunteers in the Forest Grove School District. If you have any questions about this new requirement, please contact director of school operations Karen Torry at firstname.lastname@example.org or 503-359-4600. Please click here to sign up to be a volunteer and submit a background check: https://www.
Note: Be sure to choose Forest Grove Community School from the list of schools provided in the online form. You may choose to register as a volunteer at multiple schools in the District.
