ENROLLMENT FOR THE CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR (2017-18): The 2018-19 enrollment lottery has been completed and classes are currently full with wait lists at all grade levels. FGCS continues to accept applications for enrollment throughout the school year and will enroll students on a space available basis. Please contact the school office at 503-359-4600 if you are interested in submitting an application for enrollment during the current (2018-19) school year or have any questions about enrollment about FGCS. Please carefully review all information on this page to make sure you understand our enrollment procedures before submitting an enrollment form.
If you submitted an enrollment application for the current school year (2018-19) but your student is not offered a spot during the 2018-19 school year, you must submit a new application if you wish to enroll in 2019-20. Applications do not carry over from one school year to the next. Applications for the 2019-20 school year will be available in January 2019.
New Student Application/Enrollment Process
Forest Grove Community School, like all public charter schools, is a school of choice intended to offer a unique educational program. We strongly recommend that you spend time exploring this website and schedule a school tour to get a sense of how FGCS is different from other schools and whether it would be a good fit for your child. Click here to submit an online enrollment form for the 2018-19 school year. Applications submitted after our initial enrollment lottery will be placed on wait lists. If you are unable to submit an online enrollment form (preferred), you may submit a paper form, available for download in English or in Spanish, or in the school office.
In addition to submitting an online or paper enrollment form, applicants must provide proof of residence in the Forest Grove School District in the form of a current utility bill to be part of the initial in-district lottery. You may bring your utility bill into the school office, mail it to FGCS, 1914 Pacific Ave., Forest Grove, OR 97116, fax it to 503-359-4622 or send it by email attachment to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please make sure you receive confirmation from us that your proof of residence was received.
Who May Enroll - Eligible Students
Our enrollment policy, dictated by state law, gives first priority to students residing within the Forest Grove School District. Applicants who want to be included in the enrollment lottery for in-district residents must provide proof of address in the form of a current utility bill. Students residing outside the District may apply for enrollment and be admitted if spaces are available after all interested District applicants have enrolled. Siblings of current students receive enrollment priority during the open enrollment period Jan. 15-April 3 only. Sibling applications submitted after the open enrollment period are treated the same as other applications.
If there are more applicants than spaces available, state law requires that admission be determined by lottery. State law allows FGCS to give priority for admission to siblings of currently enrolled students.
2018-19 Enrollment Lottery: The 2018-19 enrollment lottery is complete. Applications submitted after the lottery will be placed on wait lists. Important Note About Sibling Applicants: There is no sibling priority for students who submit applications after the open enrollment period. Siblings of current FGCS students who apply after the open enrollment period are treated the same as all other applicants. Siblings of current students are NOT guaranteed a spot, even if they apply during open enrollment, because there may be more sibling applications than there are spaces available; in that case, a separate sibling lottery will be held.
Registration: Please be aware that being offered a space at FGCS does not finalize your child's enrollment. Parents are required to fill out and turn in registration paper work before school begins (a deadline will be listed on registration papers). Failure to submit registration paperwork by the deadline will result in your child's space being forfeited.
Two waiting lists will be established for those who do not receive a place during the lottery: one for students who reside inside the Forest Grove School District (proof of residence in form of current utility bill required) and one for those who reside outside the District. Position on the waiting list is determined during the initial lottery process for applications received by April 2. Spaces will be offered to all students on the in-district waiting list before spaces are offered to students on the out-of-district waiting list.
Waiting lists are maintained until the end of the relevant school year; they do not carry over from year to year. Students who apply for enrollment after the April 3 deadline will be placed on the list based upon date of application. Applicants will be notified of their position on the waiting list and spaces will be filled in numerical order from the list.
No student or applicant for enrollment as a student at Forest Grove Community School shall be discriminated against in any educational program or activity on the basis of race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, ethnicity, national origin, disability, income level, proficiency in the English language or athletic ability. Enrollment of any student receiving special education services pursuant to an Individual Education Plan must be approved by the student’s IEP team.
