2020-21 Lottery Results: Click here to view the final results of the 2020-21 enrollment lottery. Parents of students being offered a spot will receive an email asking them to confirm their intent to enroll.
Enrollment for the initial 2020-21 lottery is now closed. Forms received after 3:30 p.m. Weds., April 1 will be added to wait lists at each grade level in the order received.
New Student Application/Enrollment Process
Forest Grove Community School, like all public charter schools, is a school of choice intended to offer a unique educational program. We strongly recommend that you spend time exploring this website and, when available, schedule a school tour to get a sense of how FGCS is different from other schools and whether it would be a good fit for your child. Note: School tours are not available at this time because of the statewide school closure.
Applications for enrollment that were received in the school office by 3:30 p.m. April 1, 2020 will be included in the initial enrollment lottery. Applications received after this deadline will be placed on wait lists.
FGCS, under state law, gives priority to applicants who reside within the Forest Grove School District. Out-of-district residents may be admitted on a space-available basis.
District residency may be verified by the online student information system (Synergy) if the applicant has been previously enrolled in the Forest Grove School District. If the applicant has not previously attended Forest Grove District schools, district residence must be verified through other documentation, such as a current utility bill or mailing.
Who May Enroll - Eligible Students
Our enrollment policy, dictated by state law, gives first priority to students residing within the Forest Grove School District. See above for details about how residence may be verified. Students residing outside the District may apply for enrollment and be admitted if spaces are available after all interested District applicants have enrolled.
If there are more applicants than spaces available, state law requires that admission be determined by lottery. The lottery for the 2020-21 school year will take place 2 p.m. Weds., April 22, 2020. Please see the paragraph above headed How the 2020-21 Lottery Will Be Conducted for details.
Important Note About Sibling Applicants:State law allows FGCS to give priority for admission to siblings of currently enrolled students, but this priority applies ONLY during the open enrollment period January 15-April 1, 2020. There is no sibling priority for students who submit applications after the open enrollment period. Siblings of current FGCS students who apply after the open enrollment period are treated the same as all other applicants. Siblings of current students are NOT guaranteed a spot, even if they apply during open enrollment, because there may be more sibling applications than there are spaces available; in that case, a separate sibling lottery will be held.
Registration: Please be aware that being offered a space at FGCS does not finalize your child's enrollment. Parents are required to fill out and turn in registration paper work before school begins (a deadline will be listed on registration papers). Failure to submit registration paperwork by the deadline will result in your child's space being forfeited.
Two waiting lists will be established for those who do not receive a place during the lottery: one for students who reside inside the Forest Grove School District (proof of residence in form of current utility bill required) and one for those who reside outside the District. Position on the waiting list is determined during the initial lottery process for applications received by 3:30 p.m. April 1. Spaces will be offered to all students on the in-district waiting list before spaces are offered to students on the out-of-district waiting list.
Waiting lists are maintained until the end of the relevant school year; they do not carry over from year to year. Students who apply for enrollment after the April 1st deadline will be placed on the list based upon date of application. Applicants will be notified of their position on the waiting list and spaces will be filled in numerical order from the list.
ENROLLMENT FOR THE CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR (2019-20) The 2019-20 enrollment lottery has been completed and classes are currently full with wait lists at all grade levels. FGCS continues to accept applications for enrollment throughout the school year and enrolls students if spaces become available. Please contact the school office at 503-359-4600 if you are interested in submitting an application for enrollment during the current school year or have any questions about enrollment about FGCS. Please carefully review all information on this page to make sure you understand our enrollment procedures before submitting an enrollment form.
If you submitted an enrollment application for the current school year (2019-20) but your student is not offered a spot during the 2019-20 school year, you must submit a new application if you wish to enroll in 2020-21. Applications do not carry over from one school year to the next.
No student or applicant for enrollment as a student at Forest Grove Community School shall be discriminated against in any educational program or activity on the basis of race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, ethnicity, national origin, disability, income level, proficiency in the English language or athletic ability. Enrollment of any student receiving special education services pursuant to an Individual Education Plan must be approved by the student’s IEP team.
