2021-22 School Year Enrollment The open enrollment period for the 2021-22 school year is Jan. 15 to 4 p.m. March 31, 2021. Note for parents of current FGCS students: The enrollment process is only for students seeking to enroll at FGCS for the first time. Current students are not required to re-enroll. Parents of current students will receive an email in March with a separate form asking them to state their intentions to return to FGCS. Getting to know FGCS: Forest Grove Community School, like all public charter schools, is a school of choice intended to offer a unique educational program. We strongly recommend that you spend time exploring this website to get a sense of how FGCS is different from other schools and whether it would be a good fit for your child. If you know someone with students at FGCS, talk with them about their experiences. School tours are not available at this time because of COVID-19 safety precautions. Applications for enrollment that are received and date stamped on or before 4 p.m. March 31, 2021 will be included in the initial enrollment lottery. Applications received after this deadline will be placed on wait lists.
FGCS, under state law, gives priority to applicants who reside within the Forest Grove School District. Out-of-district residents may be admitted on a space-available basis.
Applicants may be asked to provide verification of residence in the Forest Grove School District if we have any questions. You will be contacted individually if this applies to your application.
Who May Enroll - Eligible Students Our enrollment policy, dictated by state law, gives first priority to students residing within the Forest Grove School District. We also give priority to siblings of current FGCS students. Students residing outside the District may apply for enrollment and be admitted if spaces are available after all interested District applicants have enrolled. Lottery If there are more applicants than spaces available at any grade, state law requires that admission be determined by lottery. The lottery for the 2021-22 school year will take place 4 p.m. Thurs., April 15, 2021 at FGCS. The 2021-22 lottery will be conducted virtually. Information about how to attend/observe the lottery will be posted on this page at a later date. Attendance at the lottery is not required.
Important Note About Sibling Applicants: State law allows FGCS to give priority for admission to siblings of currently enrolled students, but this priority applies ONLY during the open enrollment period January 15-March 31, 2021. There is no sibling priority for students who submit applications after the open enrollment period. Siblings of current FGCS students who apply after the open enrollment period are treated the same as all other applicants. Siblings of current students are NOT guaranteed a spot, even if they apply during open enrollment, because there may be more sibling applications than there are spaces available; in that case, a separate sibling lottery will be held.
Waiting Lists
Two waiting lists for each grade will be established for those who do not receive a place during the lottery: one for students who reside inside the Forest Grove School District (see above for information about verifying residence) and one for those who reside outside the District. Position on the waiting list is determined during the initial lottery process for applications received by 4 p.m. March 31, 2021. Spaces will be offered to all students on the in-district waiting list before spaces are offered to students on the out-of-district waiting list.
Waiting lists are maintained until the end of the relevant school year; they do not carry over from year to year. Students who apply for enrollment after the March 31st deadline will be placed on the list based upon date of application. Applicants will be notified of their position on the waiting list and spaces will be filled in numerical order from the list.
Fall Registration: Please be aware that being offered a space at FGCS does not finalize your child's enrollment. Parents are required to fill out and turn in registration paper work before school begins (a deadline will be listed on registration papers made available over the summer). Failure to submit registration paperwork by the deadline will result in your child's space being forfeited.
ENROLLMENT FOR THE CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR (2020-21) All grades at FGCS are currently full with wait lists. We continue to accept applications for enrollment throughout the school year and enroll students if spaces become available. Please carefully review all information on this page to make sure you understand our enrollment procedures before submitting an enrollment form.
If you submitted an enrollment application for the current school year (2020-21), but your student is not offered a spot during the 2020-21 school year, you must submit a new application if you wish to enroll in 2021-22. Applications do not carry over from one school year to the next.

Enrollment of any student receiving special education services pursuant to an Individual Education Plan must be approved by the student’s IEP team.
